BAVARIA 1130

With the Bavaria 1130, we take a step back in time to encounter a major milestone for the German shipyard. Designed by Axel Mohnhaupt, it was the seventh model to leave the factory, but the first to break the 10-meter barrier—and by quite a margin. The year was 1983—just five years after the brand was founded—and Bavaria produced a hull that was very much a product of its time: minimal overhangs, a wide beam, and a masthead rig with a relatively small mainsail and a huge overlapping genoa. It was an unexpected growth spurt, to say the least, launching the shipyard into the ‘big leagues.’
