Modes & Reasons to join the Classic Boat Club
Everyone can join the Classic Boat Club!
There are two options:
- You can join as an enthusiast, thus opting for our “Crew Member” formula;
- Or, you can join as an “Owner Member”, an option reserved to all those who own a Classic Boat, hence, a boat that is at least 25 years old from the date of launch of the first hull in its series, starting from 1967 (or from its own launch, if one-off). This option implies the right to submit one’s boat for the “Official Register for Classic Boats of Historical Value by GdV”. “Official Register for Classic Boats of Historical Value by GdV”. Owner Member
Our membership option for all Classic Boat owners!
Any sailing boat of any size can be registered. There’s just very few conditions.
First of all, it has to sit in our ‘age’ parameters: it must have at least 25 years from its launch, if one-off; from the launch of the series, if part of a production line. In both cases, it has to be in production starting from 1967.
Finally, it must not have been modified to a point for which the original design has been altered. Nevertheless, minor modifications aimed at improving the original design are accepted.
How to register:
Submitting your boat is easy. Just fill out the form and upload the required photos. Within 15 days of submitting the required material, the Evaluation Committee will provide its opinion. If the outcome is positive, you will be able to finalize your membership and will officially enter the Club as an Owner Member. Your boat will then be registered, appearing in the Historically Valuable Classic Boat’s Official Register.

- The boat will acquire historical and collectible status, increasing its market value;
- Insurance advantages with evaluation in line with the increased values for historical relevance will be available, providing adequate insurance enhancement for the boat;
- Free access to any Classic Boat events organized by Giornale della Vela, starting from each of our seven Vela Cup, taking place around Italy’s most beautiful places;
- You will get access and direct contact with a wide array of enthusiasts. Engage in conversations, opinions, advices and opportunities through our forum and our Vela Cup encounters.
- We help you find crew for every Vela Cup you might want to join.

Your boat receives:
- Registration in the Historically Valuable Classic Boat’s Official Register
- Certificate of historical and collectible relevance tailored for your boat. It underlines and certifies the congruity of your boat’s conservation with its design standards (A4, sent by courier).
- Metal plaque (size 10 x 5 cm) to be affixed on board the boat certifying registration in the Historically Valuable Classic Boat’s Official Register
- Preferential insurance conditions reserved only for Club members, with value aligned to the historical valuations of Classic Boat by GdV.
- Insurance appraisal service by a certified appraiser at privileged conditions
- Free participation in all Classic Boat Club by GdV events of the Vela Cup circuit
- Inclusion of your boat details on the Classic Boat Club by GdV website, reserved only for members.

Crew Member
Available to all enthusiasts, because you don’t need to own a Classic Boat to enjoy and love sailing
