The first Swan designed by German Frers, who left Sparkman &Stephens. This alone would be enough to make it an iconic boat, but the Swan 51 is also an unmistakable design, distinguished by its elegance and excellent sailing performance. Produced in 36 units, 10 years after its first launch in 1991, it was still competitive, winning the 1991 IOR championship.
