Only 9 Baltic 55 DPs were born from Peterson’s brilliant design, but don’t let the numbers fool you; it was a small masterpiece. Less than a year after the launch of the first model, its track record was already impressive, with a third place in the 1984 Newport-Bermuda Race. Not bad for a cruiser-racer. The 55DP is indeed a hull that wants to race, sleek, easy to handle, yet comfortable and more than suitable for cruising. It doesn’t lack elegance either, with an incredible flush deck, a ‘Peterson-style’ stern, and well-balanced lines.
