Cantiere Navale 71

IMPALA 36

In 1973, a boat built with plywood and featuring never-before-seen lines arrives in Sardinia. It’s called Ganbare and marks a turning point in design. Cantiere Navale 71 realizes it should be mass-produced, thus giving birth to the Impala 36, which is exhibited at the Genoa Boat Show in 1975. Sailors are left open-mouthed. And designer Doug Peterson becomes a sailing superstar.
