After the Malingri family’s ocean experiences, split between the Whitbread Round the World Race on the CS&RB and various Ostar races, the Malingris worked on a hull design that would incorporate the lessons learned and be suitable for long crossings. The Moana series was born, of which the 45 is perhaps the most striking example. The rigging is intentionally oversized throughout because, rightly so, you never know what you’ll encounter at sea.
