The French shipyard Jeanneau, which at the time was not part of the Beneteau group, had the waterlines for this boat designed by Fauroux, a designer who was then at the top of his game, and subsequently produced two models. The Sun Fast 39 is the higher-performance version, and the Sun Charme 39 (which became the Sun Odyssey 39 from 1990) is the more cruising-oriented version. In every iteration, it’s a beautiful, high-class boat.
