Matchless (Ex Battlecry)

Matchless is a Swan’57, designed by Sparkman & Stephens and built by Nautor Swan Shipyard in 1978. The boat was commissioned by British owner John Prentice who launched it with the name Battlecry to participate in the 1979 Fastnet Race.
Battlecry thus raced in the tragic regatta, eventually finding refuge in Cork, in the south of Ireland.
After various vicissitudes, Battlecry took the name Matchless (around the 2000s) until it was purchased by the current owner in 2020. After three years in the shipyard, the boat has been fully restored in every part, and its stern now bears the name Matchless but also, in parentheses, the name Battlecry, in memory of its history.
